Prior to delivering ant Ayurvedic massage treatment, medicinal or health advice, it is important to undergo an Ayurvedic consultation with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner.

The aim of the consultation is to assess your Prakriti (your basic consultation) and your Vikriti (your current state of health or imbalance). Once this doshic type has been accurately determined and the causes of imbalance have been established, only then can treatment and lifestyle information be recommended.

ABHYANGA (Full body oil massage) – 45 mins : £45   /   60 mins : £55

A full body massage using a medicated herbal oil, specially selected by the physician to match your individual body type, which can be performed by one or two therapists. The two therapist version is an intensive, synchronised massage and is usually reserved for those people suffering with chronic problems and overweight. This indulgent treatment brings about improved physical consistency, induces deep relaxation and is very beneficial for vigour and vitality.

SIRODHARA (Oil flow on forehead) – 45 mins : £70

A signature Ayurvedic treatment. Sira means head and dhara means flow of liquid. First, the patient’s body is anointed with medicated oils. A pillow is placed under the neck for comfort. Lukewarm herbal oil is then hung from a specially designed vessel 8-9 inches above the forehead and made to drip in a continuous stream. While the oil flows, the therapists gently massage the head. Sirodhara rejuvenates and revitalizes the body and mind.

This deeply soothing therapy relieves stress and strain related problems, promotes sound sleep, relieves headaches and migraine, slows the aging process, strengthens the senses, improves memory and ultimately strengthens the overall physical constitution of the individual. Usually performed over a continuous number of days for maximum effect.

KIZHI (Hot bag massage) – 30min : £55  /  60 mins : £85

Specially selected herbal leaves or powders are compressed into small linen bags and then dipped in hot, medicated oil and applied to the body or afflicted area. The ingredients seep through the bag and penetrate deep into the body to result in an intensive, heating and therapeutic treatment.

Also know as Pinda Sweda in Sanskrit – sweda meaning to sweat, this heating therapy is employed to relieve many problems, including arthritis, arthritis with inflammation, spondylosis, muscle pains, injuries sustained during sports or accidents, sciatica. It eases pain, reduces swelling, nourishes the body and improves blood circulation.

For ideal results, this treatment must be completed on a daily basis – and would need to be done at least once or twice a year for most chronic conditions.

UDVARTHANA (Powder massage) – 30min : £55  /  60 mins : £85

30 or 60 minutes. This is a deep, dry and exfoliating massage using herbal powders designed to break down fatty deposits on the body. Powder massage helps reduce obesity, combats cellulite and refreshes the body. It also refreshes the skin, activates the body’s natural metabolism and improves the lymph flow. Used mainly a part of a safe weight-loss programme with diet and exercise, a 10 session course is highly recommended.

SIRO ABHYANGA (Indian head massage) - 30min : £35  /  45 mins : £45

A soothing head, neck and shoulder massage using a combination of medicated herbal oils to suit the condition of your hair and/or head-related ailment. This treatment relieves insomnia, eases neck/shoulder pain, cools the eyes, relieves headaches and migraine, removes dandruff, and stops premature greying, hair loss, dry scalp and itching. Is used commonly for compaints like frozen shoulder, spondylosis and whiplash injuries. Also available without head massage.

PADA ABHYANGA (Leg and foot massage) - 30min : £35  /  45 mins : £45

A stimulating and soothing massage of the legs, feet and ankles. Prevents dryness, cracking and numbness, relieves fatigue, sciatica and cramps; contraction of ligaments and muscles around the feet and legs. Aids in the recovery from sprained ankle ligaments and fractures. Also effective in the treatment of swelling due to diabetes, heart conditions and fluid retention.

What’s more, as nerves from the body’s organs end in the feet, massaging the foot’s various pressure points harmonises the entire system.

KATI ABHYANGA (Back massage) - 30min : £45  /  45 mins : £55

Extremely effective and deeply enriching oil massage of the back – focusing specifically on the area that needs attention. Heals and relieves chronic and acute backaches, stiffness, arthritis, muscle spasms, prolapsed disc, lumbar spondylosis, spinal disorders, osteoporosis and sciatica. The oil and massage method will be adjusted according to the condition in order to target the pain fully. A course of five or 10 sessions is best advised to provide maximum relief.
